EP petition to ban on hunting the White-Fronted Goose

Petition was raised by MEP Christos Taklis on the ban on hunting the White-Fronted Goose (Anser albifrons)

The petitioner mentions the strong similarity between the Lesser White-Fronted Goose (Anser erythropus), Europe's rarest goose species and an endangered species worldwide, and the White-Fronted Goose (Anser albifrons), which may be hunted. That situation places the Lesser White-Fronted Goose in danger. Telling the two species apart is even more difficult with young birds and when they are hunted from considerable distances; as a result, the geese belonging to the rare species are killed by mistake. For this reason he calls for hunting of the White-Fronted Goose to be banned.
