Lobsters will from now on be stunned before being put to death. Switzerland has banned the practice on Wednesday 10 January, and will take effect by March 1st.
Scientific evidence shows that lobsters, and other invertebrates, such as crayfish and crabs, feel pain. Other countries such as Norway, New Zealand and Switzerland, some Australian territories, and some parts of Germany and Italy have included the decapod crustaceans in their animal welfare legislation.
