Nearly five months after banning cosmetic animal testing within the country, India has now also imposed a ban on importing such products that test on animals and thus become the first country in south Asia to do so.
In Northern India (Himachal Pradesh), a Court has recently banned the barbaric slaughter of animals for sacrifice in Hindu Temples. The police has been asked to enforce the ban.

Indeed, through the Country, there have been massive protests asking for the final adoption of the revised Animal Welfare Act, which vote has been suspended since 2011. This revised act would provide stricter penalties in case of animal mistreatments, including imprisonment.
